History - Part I 1958The story of breeding of horses and ponies at Glendale began in 1958 when the first pony foal was born. Little did we suspect that 50 plus years later we would still be breeding. The farm had always had hacks and the mares were occasionally bred from. One known as Black Linda was sent to a thoroughbred stallion, producing a chestnut mare known as Linda! Linda was sent to Cronadun- a thoroughbred stallion known for leaving good hunters and showjumpers. He also came with a spunky temperament that was left in many of his foals! Glendale Lucky Jack (pictured right) was one of the most successful jumpers that we bred. He was very athletic and excelled in speed competitions, winning many FEI events in the late 1960s. He lived up to his sire's reputation and when first backed threw his rider over a chain! |
